Antique Staffordshire dog spaniel pair Wally Dugs
These are a gorgeous pair of Staffordshire pottery flat back Spaniel Wally Dogs/fireside dogs which I believe to be Victorian. They make a fabulous addition to a shelf or mantlepiece!
This particular pair is the glass eye version which have signs of restoration to them. Like originally intended, these dogs are a true pair because of the fact they are decorated in a different way to each other and vary slightly in size - (mass produced reproduction dogs like these are usually exactly the same paint design and size). They feature small firing holes at the back and the base which are made to to release gas during the firing process. You also can see that the gold chain has rubbed away with time on these beauties which is to be expected, but a bit of the faded gold lustre can still be seen at the edges of the collar by their ears.
Due to their age there are marks of wear and age related crazing/cracks to these dogs as seen in the photos, but this just adds to their character and doesn't detract from their charm.
