Vintage Barley Twist Bureau Writing Desk Upcycled Berry Purple/Red with Botanical Print
A farmhouse country style vintage bureau painted in a Berry shade by Fusion Mineral Paint called 'Elderberry'. The inside has been painted using 'Egyptian Cotton' matched in a Valspar satin paint for wood.
The berry tone outer and light interior goes beautifully with the quirky botanical bird print wallpaper (by designer Paul Moneypenny) I've chosen to line the back of the cubby holes with, which also compliment the gold cactus drawer handles that complete the look. An added gold tassel has been added for a touch of luxury to the old key.
The barley twist legs have been left exposed and given a coat of dark wax to protect the wood and give a deep colour to it, which certainly adds to the western, rustic vibe!
The key doesn't turn in the lock anymore but it can now just be used as a helpful way to lift the flap lid up and down for ease of use.
Measurements:
Height (from floor up to flap when flap is opened down) - 75cm
Height at tallest point of bureau - 101cm
Width - 75cm
Depth (from back to front of bureau) - 38 cm
I have taken great care to upcycle this bureau, due to the vintage nature it is not perfect and any knocks or bumps are there to show its past life :).
